In the Beginning...
While serving in the Navy, William Radosevic was assigned to NATO Headquarters in Naples, Italy some forty years ago. Bill not only met the beautiful Neapolitan lady that he later married, Anna Maria, but he also did extensive traveling throughout Europe. He met many artists and began collecting original oil paintings.
The night before Bill's son Frank was born his old shipmate Jim was visiting and discussing what his career options were. It was decided that Jim would return to Italy, seek employment and continue his education. A partnership was established with Jim selling art to the American Forces in Italy and exporting oil paintings to Bill in the states.
The original Medart logo, designed by Jim, shows the Mediterranean Sea and the boot of Italy on an artist's palette. With Frank, and now a daughter in tow, Bill and Anna Maria began wholesaling original Italian oil paintings to art galleries up and down the east coast.
In 1979 they opened their first retail location on Andrews Air Force Base, in Camp Springs, MD. and in 1985 opened a gallery in Bright Center West located in Owings, MD, until moving to Dunkirk Market Place in the summer of 1992.
Frank
Frank grew up accompanying his father on sales calls to Medart's wholesale customers and on buying trips to New York and Europe starting before he was a toddler. Later, he would tend shop with his parents at their retail location on Andrews, AFB and also as a concessionaire at numerous military installations in the Washington, DC area. Medart's first retail location in Calvert County opened in 1985, about a mile from Frank's high school. He frequently tended shop after school and on Saturdays. Customers were requesting Custom Picture Framing soon after opening in Owings. Frank, not knowing any better, started to acquire the equipment and skills necessary to complete custom framing jobs. Upon graduation from high school, he attended the Corcoran School of Art and Washington DC and obtained a BFA in Photography. Throughout his collegiate career, he cut mats for fellow students and framed numerous Senior Thesis Exhibitions while working at the gallery. Medart moved to their current location shortly after Frank was graduated from the Corcorcan. His profession as a picture framer was forever cemented.
Teresa
Teresa also grew up accompanying her father on sales calls to Medart's wholesale customers and on buying trips to New York and overseas. She also would tend shop with her parents at their retail location on Andrews, AFB and numerous military installations in the Washington, DC area.
Once the Owings gallery opened, she worked after school, weekends and during the summer. Upon graduation from high school, Teresa attended Frostburg State University where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Station Management and minors in Marketing and Public Relations.
She returned home from college graduation and started full time at the new location in Dunkirk, finding it hard to leave the family business and wonderful clientele. As the Gallery Director, Teresa runs the operations of the gallery, the financials and marketing. She has an eye for color and design and enjoys turning a piece of art into a work of art.

As a family business we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction. Most of the artwork we frame is displayed in our own neighborhood and the majority of our business is from referrals and clients who have known us for many years!
